This year was very well attended, well organized and enjoyable in spite of the high temperature. We met at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds beginning at 6:00 AM and drove to the Grant street entrance around 6:30. They again provided us with an excellent location near the park with lots of shade trees to set up our chairs. The move-in process went well considering that the event was oversold with 700 cars registered and around 450 cars in by around 11:00.
Our club had 7 cars registered, but only 4 attending because of the forecast high temperature. Rose City cars were Jim Sweet, John Calkin, Jim Peterson and myself. Jim Peterson's car won a trophy for the Best Thunderbird. The Vintage club which parked with us had another 3 or 4 cars. While it did get very warm the high temperature was not reached until after the show ended.
Food prepared by the Canby Rotary was excellent and live music by Willamette Valley Big Band played in the park. Root Beer Floats, pie and ice cream were sold by Canby High schoolers to support their sports program. It was very much a family orientated community event.
Thanks to Jim Tyson for the above write-up and coordinating this for the Rose City Thunderbirds. Also thanks to Jim Sweet for the photos below.
