Saturday morning May 14th turned out very overcast and a bit wet but a few hardy members drove their Thunderbirds any way. Several of us met in Beaverton and toured together to Saint Helens where we had a brief stop at a beautiful city park. From there we drove on to Bob Paul's Cafe in Longview, WA for lunch. There we were joined by a larger group of members. We ended up with 33 in the cafe taking almost every seat there. The waitress did a great job, I don't think any orders got messed up. After lunch we headed a few blocks away to visit John Lemmon's private car collection. John likes to collect very low mileage vehicles. Several have fewer than 20,000 original miles. There was a 1971 Chevy Pickup with only 14,000 original miles. The back wall was full of early to mid 70's GM "land yachts" that all had fewer than 16,000 miles. His 1956 Thunderbird has been restored and only has 2,800 miles since restoration. My favorite was his 1956 Ford Crown Victoria Skyliner (remember the glass tops Ford built from 1954-1956?). Only 604 were built in 1956 and this is a beautiful example of those rare vehicles. Check out the photos above and below. Thanks to Bob Monroe for planning this event!
