Engine Install Slide show On September 19, 2015 a friend from church and his son helped me install an engine in a '56 Thunderbird. It wasn't the hardest install I've ever had but it was far from the easiest. It seemed like the engine wanted to hang up on everything. We had a hard time getting the tail shaft over the "X" member of the frame. Obviously I've got a lot of work to do yet on this car but getting the engine back in is a major step in the right direction.
The aluminum valve covers will go on later - I don't want to get them dirty while still working on it. Also notice the big bag on the transmission tail shaft. Even though I'd drained the transmission I didn't want residual ATF running out all over the place.
