Another trick for a cooler running T-Bird is to put a 3/8 brass pipe plug with a 1/8 hole drilled in it into the bypass hose. Just put it in the hose, it can't go anywhere. I did this and got caught in a traffic jam going to the convention in Missouri and the car stayed cool. I also have the wide mouth stat (NAPA THM 6). The water in the bypass hose does not go through the radiator so hot water is continually being circulated in the engine. With the plug more water is forced through the radiator.
