Saturday February 15th saw more than its fair share of rain but non the less about 38 members of our club ventured to The World of Speed in Wilsonville to see the feature exhibit of Mustangs and other displays. I believe there were 12 feature Mustangs from 1965 through current generations. Two of them indicated they were from "The Brothers" collection. I could not verify if that is our members Pat & Pat Brothers that live near Bridle Veil. All of them were great examples of the Mustang. I enjoyed looking at some historical photos of when the Mustang was being designed. In the photos below of an early clay model I think the sides of the vehicle look an awful lot like the 1962 Buick Special and Pontiac Tempest. An interesting tid-bit of information is how the Boss Mustangs earned that name. It seems that some Ford management came into the design studio and saw a clay mock-up and asked the designers what they were working on. The response was "The Boss' car". One photo below of a sign in one display lists several guys by name. I couldn't resist putting this in as it mentions "Dave & Fred". I am 100% sure that isn't Dave Van Winkle and his former business partner Fred Hantho but what the heck. After viewing the displays we headed over to Langdon Farms Golf Course for a really great lunch. Thanks to Bob & Marcena Monroe for a great day.
