Fifty Years! The BIG 5 - 0! Who would have dreamed 50 years ago that a car club would still be around in 50 years. Who would have thought in 1955, 1956 or 1957 that a Ford Thunderbird would still be around for 67 years! I'm sure FoMoCo never thought anything about it at all. And yet here we are in 2022 celebrating our clubs 50th Anniversary, and still enjoying our 67 year old cars. Some are driven daily, some are driven very seldom, and a few are not in drive-able condition, but they are here and still make their presence known. On September 17, 2022 we got together to celebrate that 50th Anniversary. We met at Dennis and Mi-Suk Leedom's home in Aloha where we took over virtually all of the available landscape. I intended to take scores of photos but I was so busy I only got my camera out once, and that was to get a photo of the cake. Unfortunately, I was even late on that. As you will see below it was almost half gone when I took the picture, but you will get the message anyway. And a Big Thank You to Jim Sweet for having his camera at the ready and getting the balance of the photos.
The photo above is of a sign we had make at least 30 years ago. It has also been lost for the past several years, Thanks to Diane Clark for finding it in their garage rafters and to Don Smith for getting it to us even though he was unable to attend the party. The agenda was very loose: Visit, eat, and talk. There was lots of tire kicking, visiting (talking) with friends and a recap of the first 50 years of the Rose City Thunderbird Club. A few more of us will be absent but I think the next big celebration like this should be for our 75th anniversary. I hope you enjoy the pics below they give a brief overview of the day.
