You may have noticed a one year gap in activities. Well, right you are. Just so future readers of this website are aware a little thing called Covid-19 had us shut down for a year. This trip to The Oregon Gardens in Silverton was our first official event in one full year. Welcome Back!
Last month was our first RCT event of the year and wow wasn’t it a great one. A drive to the Oregon Gardens on a beautiful June day was just the ticket for a good summer cruise. Road ready members met at The End of the Oregon Trail site in Oregon City for a short briefing and the all-important matching of name tags to familiar faces. If memory serves correctly we had 8 classic ‘Birds, 3 Retros and at least 1 or more family cars.
John Sailors drove his newly restored Starmist Blue ’57. This has been an ongoing project for several years that is well documented on our web site http://www.rosecitythunderbirds.org. I might add that the site is a great resource for staying current with club events and other matters of interest. John has done a great job maintaining the site for more years than he would like to remember.
Nancy Hinsch had a wonderful surprise for our VP John Calkin. It seems that several years ago he had asked Nancy to knit a car cover for his ’57. It’s been said that good things come to those who wait. Check out the photo below with John holding his "T'bird" with the knitted cover on it. (Click on that photo and you can then see all of Mike.)
